Who Shot Rock & Roll at the Brooklyn Museum
A massive exhibit of rock & roll photography opens at the Brooklyn Museum this weekend. See a slew of Annie Leibovitz’s iconic images, the full contact sheet from John Lennon’s classic New York City t-shirt shoot, early photos of the Stones, Elvis, Hendrix, and Cash.
The Brooklyn Paper says “Every photo in the exhibition is a classic — a classic of composition, of printing, of technique. Some are real moments in time, like Ian Tilton’s shot of Kurt Cobain crying — really crying, not just fake crying — after a show. Others are artificial moments — like Albert Watson’s perfectly composed, in-camera, double-exposure of the faces of Mick Jagger and a leopard — that nonetheless remind us how good good photography can be.”
The members’ preview featuring a performance by Blondie is tonight.
